Dean moved to Portland three years ago to finish his bachelor’s degree at Portland State University by way of Eugene, Oregon. Being a member of the graduating class of 2015, Dean has great academic interest in the power of education and how that plays a role in the political system in America. Prior to graduation, Dean became affiliated with the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO) and started volunteering with the New American Voters Project.
Dean will be supporting Oregon Voice’s coordination of the New American Voters Project and hopes to expand the reach of OV’s civic engagement work. As someone who identifies himself as biracial, Dean is interested in combatting the displacement that he sees negatively affecting the social fabric in marginalized communities in and outside of Portland.
